Last year we hit 3.9 billion and by the time 2022 comes around, there will be 6 billion mobile internet users.
And with that increase in size has come increasing prominence for mobile advertising revenues. The sector has grown with it from a $9 billion industry valuation in 2013 to $89 billion in 2017. And that near ten fold increase is set to be more than doubled by 2022, with the global mobile advertising business set to hit a valuation of $219 billion.
China, in particular, has been driving the global mobile change. Chinese mobile brands have become global megastars; mobile penetration in the country is creeping past the 96% mark; that enormous base behave as true ‘mobile first’ users, driving their lives through platforms like WeChat.
So, what are the big developments in the Chinese mobile advertising market for companies seeking to reach the best part of a billion users?
